IEC 62368-1:2023 pdf download,Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment – Part 1: Safety requirements.
IEC 62368-1:2023 specifies safety requirements for audio/video, information, and communication technology (ICT) equipment and certain business/office machines with a rated voltage not exceeding 600 V. Its main purpose is to reduce risks of fire, electric shock, and other harm by evaluating the product in terms of the energy sources it contains (and how those energies could injure a person), then requiring safeguards to limit energy reaching people or reduce the likelihood of injury.
The standard uses a hazard-based approach rather than an incident-only approach: it identifies hazards related to energy sources such as electrical, thermal, and (in relevant cases) mechanical or fire-related hazards, then defines safeguards. These safeguards may include reducing energy, impeding or diverting it, disconnecting/interrupting it, enclosing it, or placing barriers between the energy source and a user’s body parts. IEC 62368-1 also gives guidance on how safeguards should be designed and applied for different exposure situations and for different categories of people (ordinary users, instructed persons, and skilled persons).
It covers both complete equipment and, in many cases, components/sub-assemblies and power supplies that are part of the overall safety assessment, and it describes how compliance is demonstrated through required testing.
