IEC 60335-2-2:2026 is a safety standard for electric vacuum cleaners and water-suction cleaning appliances intended for household and similar use. It specifies “particular requirements” that complement the general safety framework of IEC 60335-1. The scope covers appliances such as vacuum cleaners for animal grooming, centrally sited vacuum cleaners, and automatic battery-operated cleaners, as well as certain spray extraction appliances and units with blowing or inflating functions. It applies to devices with rated voltages up to 250 V for single-phase and DC/battery-powered appliances, and up to 480 V for multi-phase centrally sited systems.
